Made cut
also: missed cut · MC · the cut
Finishing inside the score line that decides who plays the last rounds of a tournament.
Most stroke-play events cut the field after the second round, keeping the leaders and ties (usually the top 65 or 70). Players who miss the cut are listed as CUT, with no finishing position and, on most tours, no money.
Withdrawals (WD) and disqualifications (DQ) are kept apart from missed cuts. LIV events and some invitationals have no cut.
The common mistake
Average finish over made cuts only hides the missed ones. Look at cuts made alongside it, or at strokes versus the field, which counts every round.
