Golf major winner odds by sportsbook

Pre-tournament winner prices for the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Open Championship by sportsbook, from 2021, with how they moved. REST or MCP.

BirdieAPI serves the pre-tournament winner prices of the four men's majors by sportsbook, from The Odds API (its archive for past majors, then refreshed daily while an upcoming major's market is open): for each golfer and book the opening price (the first weekly snapshot), the latest price before the first round, and the number of snapshots between, as American odds with the implied probability. Every major from 2021 is covered, and the 2020 U.S. Open has a single snapshot.

get_winner_odds returns one major's field with the favourites first, all four majors of a season, or one golfer across the majors. Each price carries our player id where the name matches a golfer in that tournament's field. The table below is read from the database.

Questions

Which tournaments, and how far back?

The four men's majors: the Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open and the Open Championship. Every edition from 2021 is covered, plus the 2020 U.S. Open from a single snapshot. The table on this page is the live coverage by season, counted from the database. There is nothing for other PGA Tour events or for the LPGA, LIV or the DP World Tour.

How often are prices captured?

Weekly, on Fridays, starting months before each major, so the series shows how a golfer's price moved over the season. The latest pregame price is the Friday before the first round, up to a week before the first tee time. The first seasons have fewer snapshots than later ones.

Which sportsbooks?

DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Bovada, BetOnline, ESPN BET, MyBookie and Pinnacle, where each priced a major. The set changes by year: ESPN BET appears from April 2024, MyBookie stops in 2024, and Pinnacle priced only some majors. Pass bookmaker to filter to one.

Are there round, matchup or top-10 prices?

No. Only the outright winner market is held: no round leaders, three-balls, matchups, top-5, top-10 or make-the-cut markets, and no in-play prices.

Is implied_prob the chance a golfer wins?

It is the price turned into a probability with the book's margin still in it, so a field's implied probabilities add up to more than one. Compare prices across books, or against our strokes-versus-field rating, rather than reading one as a forecast.

What does it cost?

5 credits a call. Every account gets 500 free credits every month and no card.

Can I use it from Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. BirdieAPI is an MCP server as well as a REST API: add one URL to Claude, Cursor or any MCP client and ask for a major's favourites in plain English.

What it will not do

  • The four men's majors only, from 2021 (plus one snapshot of the 2020 U.S. Open): no other tournaments and no other tours.
  • Outright winner prices only: no round, matchup, three-ball, top-5, top-10 or make-the-cut markets.
  • Snapshots, not every price change: weekly for past majors (the latest pregame price can be up to a week before the first tee time), daily for an upcoming major while its market is open and every six hours in tournament week; a golfer's price in between is not known.
  • Pre-tournament only. A snapshot at or after the first round's start date is never served.
  • A price carries a player id only when its name matches a golfer in that tournament's field, or one of our players by name; otherwise the book's spelling is still served, without one.
  • No in-play prices: an upcoming major is refreshed daily (every six hours in tournament week) until its first round starts, then its pregame series is closed.
